SURVEY
Evolving a historical campus
Project: Washington University in St. Louis
Washington University in St. Louis is a world-class private research university that was founded in 1853, and moved to its current location in 1900. Cole’s engineering and surveying teams have collaborated with the University for more than 16 years as it evolves its 169-acre Danforth Campus.
Mapping complexity
WashU’s internal Facilities & Maintenance team has set a high standard for the operation of its buildings and campus, evolving existing buildings and infrastructure and planning for new construction. Cole led the work to map historical utilities and services and gather data in a variety of ways, including topographic surveys, utility surveys, and drone surveys of the entire campus.

A long-term partnership
Cole’s experienced engineering and surveying project managers have worked with WashU for more than 16 years, building deep knowledge of the campus. That knowledge, coupled with overall expertise in higher education and institutional projects, has allowed our team to work closely with the University to set and achieve its goals for the campus.
Informing a vision for the future
As the University continues to invest in its campus and create spaces for innovative learning, we’re proud to be part of the ongoing work.
